'HICHKI'
A Rani Mukherjee starrer film revolves around an ambitious person who aspires to be a Teacher despite having a neurological syndrome.
Deliberately I refuse to reveal the kind of syndrome it is because it's what the movie is all about.
The word Hichki over here does not really mean a hiccup but personifies a persons road block or the his/her struggle to overcome their fears or any hurdle.
Hichki is moderately paced where in a span of 1hour 56minutes there are patches where movies grips you while at some check points it drops it's momentum.
Rani Mukherjee has been brilliant. She is making her delayed comebacks with such power pack performances. The kind of role she was handed was indeed challenging and may have required a lot of reiteration.
The 14 kids are the soul of this film. Very expressive, energetic and promising.
The other part of the movie has been the ruthless truth of ones school life.
There may have been many instances where a student is ignored or bullied because of academical performance or the background which he comes from or many other unsaid reasons as well.
There lies a bitter truth in and around a classroom where a teacher has been seen favouring a bunch of students who are bright and obey the teachers.
Hichki highlights those small issues which have a long lasting impact on the psychology of student. What gets engraved stays with him till there is someone who helps him come out of the quicksand.
And this where a Mentor enters.
I agree to this fact that everyone must have one mentor in his life who will show him the direction no matter how grave the situation.
Mentor does not always mean a living person. It can a Tree or a Dog or a Stone as well. A mentor does not walk with you but directs you in the directions which make your life better.
I salute here to all my Teachers who have been there when I needed them the most. We might not be in touch on daily basis but I know they will be there for me. That thought itself is assuring.
Finally, I give 3 stars out of 5 !! And 1star extra to all the Teachers who moulds a student to stand and bring out their true potential.
